NAMETAB DELTA

A very young bitch who has had a season back in June, and has schooled very well. She currently weighs 61 pounds, een well hunted and well reared. The only reason she is in the sale is to give someone a chance to have a genuine young bitch in their kennels. as we have another of this age, but will require more time. As all other dogs I have sold, she has never been injured, is a quiet bitch, eats well, and will make someone a good , genuine runner. She is a wide runner and fast away, only has 3 official marks on her card at the moment, winning ALL 3 trials. The puppy she beat in her first official trial around Thurles, has been around Thurles track on 5 official trials previously. Daphne trialled again at Thurles yesterday, but missed the break. She overtook the dog in front of her on the third bend, and won by 3 lengths. This makes 3 wins from 3 trials for this very young bitch, and dont ask me what the going was, because it was absolutley slow again.

The 3 Pups

Rooney, Dapne and Jack, all had a solo at Donneskeigh schooling track this morning. This was the second time in the traps at Donneskeigh, and their respective times were, Rooney 18-69, Daphne 18-55 and Jack 18-73. We have done no work with these pups whatsoever, indeed the 2 dogs are still out in the field, so I am very pleased as all 3 would qualify on the track.

TRAFFIC COMMAND

I heard that Rocky won his second trial at Swindon recently in 29.26. That puts him straight into A1 grade. He has had to get used to a new kennel in the UK, and get accustommed to the UK traps. I sold this dog for handy money, and I am convinced he will be a good minor Open Race dog in the UK. Go on my son!!!!!!!!!
STOP PRESS: I have just noticed in Wednesdays Racing Post, that "Rocky" is in Heat 2 of the Hunt Cup at Reading tonight. Personally I think this distance may be a bit to far for him at this stage, and not having a look round at Reading is also of further concern. Best of luck tonight " Rocky " and I know Darryl wouldnt have thrown you in at the deep end if he didnt think you were capable of putting up a good show. No luck for " Rocky ". The stats read Slow away, hit rails at 1. I would think if he is entered at Swindon in a 480 or 509 next time, it would be a good time to back him.

The Blues Brothers

These are 2 Saplings being bred from Ningbo Jack x Bantiss Princess. They are being reared by my good friend John Moyles, from whom I have had 2 very good puppies from in the past.

This picture is taken from Johns Blogsite, and the one on the left is my dog, which I have named " Gilly " because he has an ear mark GIL in one ear. I have named him NAMETAB APPOLLO

John has thought a lot of this litter from very early days, and it looks as if his instincts have been proved correct.

RETIREMENT BECKONS

Creaking Bones has been retired, and will shortly be off to Latvia. He will be greatly missed by us, but as we have a 7 year old Greyhound in the house, we cant take them all, and he is a big dog, with a beautiful nature. Even as he was waiting to go for his operation, two small cats appeared about 3 feet from his nose, and he never blinked an eye at the. Was he a good racer?? You bet he was, and it was just a shame we could never get to the bottom of his career ending injury. He was castrated, vaccinated for Rabies and Parvo virus, and micro chipped. He came out of the surgery wagging his tail and jumped straight up into the car, without a bother. I have a feeling he may be thinking like this today!!!!!!!!

FIRST TIME ON GALLOPS

Nametab Zorro ( Rooney ) black dog, Nametab Delta ( Daphne) fawn bitch and Nametab Apache ( Jack ), black dog taken on 1st November at Tommy Noonins gallop in Fethard, Co.Tipperary. This was their first time on any gallop, and they all chased up very well. They were let go singly, with around 15 metres in between. They were all whelped in October 2006.

THE THREE MUSKETEERS

Rooney, Daphne and Jack, are off for their first 30 minute ride in the van tomorrow. They will be taken over to Tommy Noonins gallop at Fethard. I hope take some pictures of this fine gallop. This will be Rooneys first ever gallop behind a lure. The other two have been hanslipped at Thurles already.

TRAFFIC COMMAND

Traffic Command is in the sale at Thurles on Tuesday 30th October. No particular reason for him being in the sales, except he is a syndicate dog and one of the syndicate members wants to sell him. If he dosnt fetch decent money, I will buy him back myself, as I truly believe, and so does his trainer, that this is a sub 29 second dog at Shelbourne Park, in the making. He was in Trap 1 for his trial, a trap in which he had never been in before, but this is such a competitive dog, tht all traps are the same to him. He was once again, slow away, but ran his usual race between 2 and 3, to go into the lead at 3. He won the trial by 5.5 lengths, in a fifth fastest of the day 29.58. The track was back about -30, and some dogs were losing their footing on loose sand at the first bend. A number of people were asking about him throughout the auction, and he sold for 3100 to Daryll Porter attached to Swindon race track in England. I wish Daryll all the best with him, especially as he was the only trainer in the UK who won with a bitch of mine called Nametab Domino, and Daryll informed me that he had just retired her to a Homefinder scheme in Devon. I shall be watch "Rocky" with great interest http://www.igb.ie/Greyhounds.aspx?id=AF02F857-3409-48F9-8404-BB3D06FF4330

CREAKING BONES

Tonsils in Semi Final of A2 stake at Thurles on Friday night. Drawn trap 5. He will be retired if he dosnt finish in the first 3. Tonsils finished 6th in this race, and never looked like the dog he used to be. He is a very happy lad, and thankfully he has no serious injury, so he will be retired to the settee.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

TRAFFIC COMMAND

Traffic Command is racing in another A3 570 race at Thurles on Saturday night, from Trap 5. This will be his last race for us before going to the sale at Thurles on 30th October. .Rocky was slow away as usual, but his pace from the 2nd to the 3rd bend is quite fantastic. He has always run his races this way, and he never knows when he is beaten. He was in front at the pick-up. The race was messy with a dog getting knocked over on the first bend, and another on the third bend, but at no time was Rocky involved in this crowding. Although he wins from the 5 box, he rails like a cat on the bends, and it would be good to see what he could do from the inside boxes.

CREAKING BONES

Creaking Bones, aka " Tonsils " is in the second heat of an A2 stake at Thurles on Friday night. He has drawn trap 6, which must be the coffin box for him, as and he has never run from this box before in his life. If he fails to impress me this time, he will definatley be retired. Its a shame really, because he busts a gut to win, but this niggling injury, which nobody can get to the bottom of, just stops him running a bend with fluency. Good luck in this Stake "Tonsils", 'cos I feel that you will need it. He finished in third place, beaten a long way. He will contest the semi final next week. I really dont hold out much of a chance of him getting to the final, so it will be off to the settee for him I fear.

NAMETAB APACHE

Nice day in Thurles today, so I decided to get " Jack " out of the paddock, and take him in the carto the track, for his first handslip. I let him watch about 6-7 lots go round, then hand slipped him on the third bend. He chased right away, and when he got to the box, he sniffed around it, then ran the reverse way around the track, and I collected him on the back straight. Well pleased with this little lad.

TRAFFIC COMMAND and CREAKING BONES and OKEE DANCER

Both "Rocky" and "Tonsils" are out on Saturday night at Thurles. " Rocky" is in the last race, a 570 A3, where he led until the run in last week, and was beaten half a length. I hope he would run a better race this week, as he has the benefit of that race last week under his belt, and that was his first race for 5 weeks. Not a good weekend, winning wise. Rocky was the meat in the sandwich at the first bend, and could never get back into the race.

"Tonsils" is a different matter. He has a problem that we cant get to the bottom off, even Bonemen, Musclemen, and an X-Ray by a Vet, cant get to the bottom of it. It would appear that he has a calcium build up on the top of his metacarpals. The Vet did give it a technical name, and he said some dogs will run through it, and some wont. If he dosnt run well this week, I will try him once more in a 525 race, and if still not good, will retire him to the settee. Tonsils gave them a 3 length start after walking from the boxes, then made up the ground to be badly baulked at the first bend. Its an A2 stake for Tonsils next week, and if he dosnt perform well in this 525 stake, then its off to the sette for this lovely big dog.

"Okee" is also out in an Open Sprint at Thurles on Friday night. He has drawn Trap He opened the hot favourite at 4/6, but he was baulked at the first bend, and that was his race over, finishing in third place.

NAMETAB ZORRO

"Rooney" was also taken from the paddock today and had a lead put on him. This time the story was so different to the other 2 pups. He is a big pup, going around 74 pounds already, and he made his weight felt. He wouldnt have it for about half an hour, and I had to use all my strength to pull him along. Was I puffing and blowing!!!!. It took him half an hour to realize what was needed, but he will need some more lead training before we could walk him properly. "Rooney" was marked up today by Jim Ryan, and weighed in at 77 pounds ( 35 kg).

NAMETAB APACHE

"Jack" was given his first lesson on lead training today. Taken straight from the paddock, he was resistant for a short while, but then realised what was wanted, and we went for a nice walk on the road for about a mile. He saw a small terrier and went mad to chase after it. I dont think there will be any chasing problems with this pup either. " Jack " was marked up by Jim Ryan today. He wieghed in at 66 pounds (30 kg)

NAMETAB DELTA

Tomorrow is "Daphnes" first birthday. She is the litter sister of " Rooney "She had her first season back in June, and is still in the paddock. Today was such a perfect day that I decided to take her straight from the paddock, put a lead on her, and take her to Thurles for her first handslip. This girl had always been keen, so I didnt have any worries with her. She was perfect on the lead and in the car. I went to the infield and she watched 2 dogs go round, and then I took her to the third bend for her handslip. She chased like a good 'un. Looked in the box and went round it a few times, before I caught her and gave her a well deserved drink. So she had her first time out on a lead, her first ride in the car, and her first handslip, just a day before her first birtday. Perfect, I couldnt have been more pleased. " Daphne " was marked up today by Jim Ryan and weighed in at 58 pounds ( 26.36 kg )

TRAFFIC COMMAND

Rocky had his first 525 trial at Thurles this morning since running at Shelbourne Park 4 weeks ago.. He ran an excellent time, but it was an unofficial trial, so I am not going to mention the actual time he obtained. I can tell you that he is running this Friday night at Thurles, in a 570 A3 race. He has drawn Trap 4 which I am happy with. Plans are for entry into an A2 stake shortly.. He is entered in the Sales on October 30th at Thurles, but will need to fetch decent money before we let him go. His brother Farloe Tobias won an Open race at Shefffield a couple of weeks back, and another litter mate is also Open class in Ireland. I honestly believe this is a good competition dog. He led from the first bend, but was just caught on the run in, and beaten 0.5 length, in a winning time of 31.84. He probably needed the race, as it was 4 weeks since his last run, but I think 570 was just a shade too far for him.

CREAKING BONES

After a further 5 week lay off, Tonsils is back racing at Thurles tonight in an S2/3 sprint. No one, including two top musclemen, plus an x-ray with a greyhound Vet, can establish exactly what the difficulty is. Its not a chip or fracture, its not a muscle, no one seems to know. I have decided to let him have 2 sprints, and a 525 and if he isnt the Tonsils of before, will retire him to a settee. I dont expect him to win tonight, but I would like to feel he will make a fair show of himself. He ran an excellent race, leading from the traps with space to spare, but easing when approaching the first bend, to let the winning dog go past him. He rallied in the home straight to be beaten by 1.5 lengths in a time of 19.62. Tonsils of old would have won this by 4 lengths, but with this problem of not running a bend, his future looks set for retirement

TRAFFIC COMMAND

I'm very pleased to report that after kenneling at the track on 4 different racenights, ROCKY, seems to be OK. He is coming out of the kennel fine now. He never knows when he is getting a race now, wheras before, he always knew he was going to race, and got himself worked up.

ON THE COMEBACK

OKEE DANCER had his first sprint trial since getting a small injury to his front toe a few weeks back. Although unrecorded, his time was once again a magnificient 17.77 for the 330 trip.

Thursday, September 06, 2007

NAMETAB RIBERY

It is with regret that I write this, for in his first handslip at Thurles this morning, "Jesus " broke two metacarpels on the first bend, and his racing career is finished before it had started.

Monday, September 03, 2007

TRAFFIC COMMAND

Rocky goes from trap 4 in the 21-55 A2 race on Wednesday night at Shelbourne. He raised a few eyebrows and an enquiry from serious dog men after last weeks run, but he still needs the rails to show how fast he can go. Still on an upward curve, and still a puppy, gone from A4 to A2, including his last run of 29.25 at Shelbourne, in only the 3rd race of his life. The worst race he has ever run, and we know why!!!!! He is a bad kenneller. His blanket was wet with saliva and torn up, as was his muzzle. When he is in an early race he is fine, but now an A2 he is never going to be in these early races. We are going to take him to the track on Friday and Saturday night, and kennel him all night. We will see if this cures him, as he will never know when he is to race or not. He lost around 4 lbs after last nights race, but is fine this morning. Its a shame really as this pup is fast. Would make an ideal flapping dog, but we dont have flaps in Ireland.

Thursday, August 30, 2007

TRAFFIC COMMAND

Rocky goes from Trap 5 in an A3 race at Shelbourne Park tonight. He is only an A4 dog on his time, but the Trainer thinks he is an ideal Shelbourne dog. He is seeded as an inside seed, but has yet to draw the rails box yet.Well on time, he may have been an A4 dog when he went, but although finishing 3rd, beaten 2.5 and 1.5 lengths, his time improved again to 29.25. This dog is a strong finisher, and if we could just get a rails berth sometime, then I am sure this dog would be close to 29.00. He is not the quickest away, cuts in at the bend, but shows good determination. He only has 3 races to his name, and is still a baby , learning his skills.

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

TRAFFIC COMMAND

Rocky goes from Trap 5 in the Final of the Express Wish A3 Unraced Puppy Stake at Thurles on Friday night. He had the fastest time of the night last week, so heres hoping he can do the same again this week. Bumped at 1, and crowded at 3, put paid to his chances. He finished in 4th place, but was certainly not disgraced in his running.

Friday, August 17, 2007

CREAKING BONES

Tonsils goes from his favoured Trap 1 on Sat night in an S2 sprint. He has been off since May 24th for a long rest, and just small niggly problems. He is a dog that gives me everything in his races, so I am hopeful of him showing himself in a good light once again, and for me hollering OI Oi at the run in. Alas it was not to be. Badly bumped at the first bend, and out of the race. He finished last for the first time in his life, so retirement may well be on the cards. He had an x-ray to see all was in order, and it was confirmed that he was OK. He appear to have abone growth on top of his metacarpals, The Vet had seen dogs like this before, and we have all decided to give him some treatment and try him in another couple of races, before any decision is taken on his future.

Friday, August 03, 2007

TRAFFIC COMMAND

Traffic Command had his first look at Shelbourne Park last night. He is still an unraced puppy, having now won his 4 trials at 4 different tracks in Ireland. In last nights 3 dog trial, he obliterated them, winning the trial in 29.71 by 10 lengths.
He was bumped on the first bend, but when coming off the second bend, he opened up, and went away easily, passing the leading dog on the inside.
The track was very wet during the trials, and dried out as the evening got underway. He is now aimed at an unraced stake at Shelbourne for 24 dogs, starting on 15th August.
Change of plan. He is now entered in an unraced stake at Thurles on 17th August. Rocky has drawn Trap 5 in the first semi final. He looked a picture in the paddock, and I said if he runs as well as he looks, he will win by 10 lengths. Well he won by 9 lengths in the fastest time of the night, in 29.33. He has an outstanding card, and has never been headed. He runs tracks first time up, without a look, and is one of the most genuine dogs you could have in your kennels. He is for sale at £5000.

RED MILLS STARS OF THE MONTH ( JUNE )

Okee Dancer has been awarded the Red Mills Star of the Month for the Thurles track, in June. This is a monthly award given by Red Mills for all Irish Tracks, and is displayed in The Sporting Press.

Quote

"Okee Dancer ( Roanokee - Spaner Dancer ) owned locally by Brendan O'Mahony and trained by Liam McCormack, is the worthy winner of our June award. The August 05 whelp captured the Mabels Dillema at Stud Stake with a prize fund of 7500 Euro, in a fast 29.25 ssecs over the standard trip "

A certificate of merit and 2 bags of Red Mills feed will also be awarded to Okee Dancer.

I had a small input of rearing this dog with John Collins, along with Bennie ( Brendan O'Mahony) and Phil Hayes, and we always thought this would be a fast dog. The National Sprint may be on the cards if he keeps trapping the way he does at the moment. The photo shown is one of Bennie and Okee Dancer on the gallop in February earlier this year.

Okee Dancer is running in an Open/A1 sprint at Thurles this coming Saturday night

BLENHEIM MAN

Sold at Thurles sales after winning his trial. I expect to see him entered in the August Catalogue at Perry Barr. Good luck for the future " Little Man "I shall be watching your progress.

Blenheim Man goes from Trap 6 in the last race at Thurles this coming Saturday night. He is entered in the sales at Thurles the following week, and is Lot83. The dog in Trap 2 was different class. He was out and gone and won in 29.35. Our fellow tried his hardest to get back into the race, despite the attention of the 4 dog, and ran on to be 2nd. I have a feeling Blenheim Man will be better over 6 bends. http://www.igb.ie/Greyhounds.aspx?id=F16E288A-F225-42FC-9522-19742A037F99

RONANS ROCKET

Stop Press: RONANS ROCKET sold for a nice 4 figure sum to a UK buyer, without any form of advertising at all.

Ronans Rocket goes from Trap 4 in the Pre-hung Doors Direct A2 Puppy 525yds Semi-final at Limerick tonight. This young dog has blistering sectional times of 4.92 and 4.94 in his previous 2 heats of this 48 dog Stake. He is now staying better, so its good luck to his owner / trainer, 13 year old Ronan O'Donavan tonight, and there will be a big following coming down from Thurles to give both the dog and Ronan some vocal support. For the first time in his life "The Rocket " missed his break. His nose was at the top of the gate when it opened, and he seemed a little suprised when the lids went up. However, he managed to get back into contention at the third bend, but his rear legs were dragged back by the 5 dog, effectively finishing his race. Hard luck Ronan, but there will be another winning race for this young dog before too long.

OKEE DANCER

Okee Dancer is in the Final of a 48 dog Stake, The Mabels Dilema At Stud A3 Stake, at Thurles next weekend. This August 05 dog has had 5 races and won 3 and is very fast away. A sprint 330 yd trial of 17.77 at Thurles was run earlier in the year, and he is always away quickly. He now stays as well, so good luck to " The Dancer " in the final next weekend. Never slow in his trapping, and he didnt let us down tonight, out and gone, but tieing up on the run in. A good solid perfomance by this dog, and winning 2800 euro for this contest..http://www.igb.ie/Greyhounds.aspx?id=6DB70C76-60D0-4146-B9B7-EC7C59168A46

KYLEMORE DAME

Sold at Thurles sales after winning her trial by 10 lengths. The man that brought her, is going to breed from her when she comes amiss.

Unraced August 05 bitch. 12 weeks out of season. Will be entered in sales at Thurles on 30th June . In an official trial at Thurles on 22nd June, this bitch took a hefty bump on the first bend, which knocked her back 2/3 lengths, but her character is so genuine, that she rallied, and went past the leading dog, to win by 4 lengths. 3 trials, 3 wins for this unraced bitch http://www.igb.ie/Greyhounds.aspx?id=87A2BFE8-23FB-40CB-A1FC-F1AF8D29A1E6

CREAKING BONES

"Tonsils" goes from his favoured trap2 tonight at Thurles in the 22.02 an A2. He will be a very short priced favourite once again, and I have no reason to doubt that he will be thereabouts once more. He was slow away last night, but once again ran his race genuinely. 5th going round the first bend, he rallied along the back straight, and managed to finish in 2nd place. He was hot favourite once again at 5/4.

TRAFFIC COMMAND

Traffic Command ( Rocky ) settled into his kennel last night with no problems at all. He has now been syndicated, and we look forward to some good runs from him.

LIMERICK SALES RESULTS 22/5/07

Once again a small attendance at the Limerick Sales today. Only 2 Hounds broke the 29 second barrier, and these were Lots 23 Ciaras Winnie 28.98, fiercely contested by one of the big agents, and an Irishman who eventually won the money duel at 4100, and Lot 69 Tuscany Bound 28.96.
In my opinion the track was running normal, and was well prepared. Trials started at 9-35, and the auction at 11-10. There were 17 no shows ( 22%), and Lots 74 and 75, and Lots 76 and 77 were 2 dog 525 trials, with one sprint trial from Lots 8 and 16. I left the track after Lot 31 was knocked down, after purchasing Lot 29 myself. He ran a very good trial for an unraced pup, winning by 5 lengths in 29.36 after being baulked twice before the second bend. In my opinion he looked very light and was 5 pounds underweight,at 63.5 pounds when I weighed him at home. He had also just just got over the " cough ". There must be an awful lot more to come from this gutsy young dog.

CREAKING BONES

CREAKING BONES aka " Tonsils " was called in as the second reserve last night at Thurles, in an A1/A2 race. He was once again drawn in Trap 5, where no-one gave him any chance against a 28.83 in trap 2, belonging to Jim Hennessey, and trained by Micheal O' Donavan.
At one time on the tote he was 19/1 and I thought it silly not to give him some support, so I had 10 on him, and the odds shortened to 8/1 at the off.

He broke slowly, but was looking for his pitch on the rails, and a gap opened up, and he railed in third place at the first bend with no interference. Still in third place coming off the second bend, he quicky paced up and went to the tight inside to squeeze past the leading dog at the third bend and went on to win by 1 length.

I was absolutly calling him home off the fourth bend, Come on Tonsils Oi Oi, and I was that loud, I silenced the crowd!!!!
I didnt give a damn, as I was ecstatic. This dog gives me wonderful pleasure to watch, as he gives everything he has in each race. This now makes him 7 wins from 14 races. Dont anyone tell me he aint worth £3k of anyones money!!!!!!!http://www.igb.ie/Greyhounds.aspx?id=9801C93E-23BD-45D0-92EF-C9A9B7180074

NAMETAB RIBERY

When I moved to Ireland in August 2006, I had a March 06 puppy that was born in the UK. I decided to send it up to Martin Tuckers in Roscommon, as he had already reared a puppy for me that is now A1 at Sunderland ( Nametab Kiwi ).
I last saw him in November 06, and knowing that Martin rears them well, just sent the money off for him every 3 months or so.
I had a text from Martin today which said " Jesus chased hard first time up ". Its always nice to get the first report. I called him " Jesus " because I brought him on Good Friday 2006, and as he stretched up to me, I could see a white cross under his chest. His breeeding is Droopys Kewell x Miss Ballyvin. I hope to pick him up for racing at Thurles, sometime in June.

CLONMEL SALES RESULTS

Generally speaking, this was another poor quality sale, and with the Vendors all appearing to overprice their dogs value, many were not sold, some with no bids, and a few with bids that didnt reach the owners reserves. I went for 2 dogs that were no shows, and the no shows amounted to 21. I was the top bidder on another bitch that caught my eye at 800 Euro, but the owner took him off the bench unsold. I approached him afterwards, and he informed me he required 1750 Euro. See what I mean by over estimating the value!! The time of this Nov 05 bitch was a winning 29.54, by a head.
The fastest time of the day was 29.17, Lot 64, Mia's Major. This was sold for a top price of 5000 Euro to a well known agent. The second fastest time was 29.24 Lot 71 Mias Jewell, a littermate to Lot 64. She went for 2500 Euro. Both these fawn Hounds were a credit to their owner.rearer Mr Edward Farrell of Clonmel. I stayed until Lot 72 when the crowd was dwindling, and came away empty handed. Good job I don't have to travel over from England to get those specific dogs!!!!

BLENHEIM MAN

Drawn in Trap 3 in the final of an A6 Stake at Thurles on Friday night. This is his second race of his career, and he is in tip top condition, so we are hoping for a good run from him in the Final. Drawn middle, he will save himself some ground, which could be a great advantage to him, as he just run out of steam to finish second last in last weeks semi final. We expected a good run from this pup last night, but it was not to be. He completely missed his break, and then tended to go to the outside. Coming off the second bend he was stone last. He ran on through dogs to finish in 3rd place, but his start put paid to his winning the race early on.

CREAKING BONES

"Tonsils " has been entered for an S2 360 sprint race on Friday Night at Thurles. He has drawn his unfavourable Trap 5, but the way he has been running lately, he could be drawn on the Hare Rail, and still run well. The sooner we are able to seed our dogs in Ireland, the better it will be for us all. Tonsils was slow away from Trap 5, and then checked in behind to get his favoured rails position, thus losing valuable time in a sprint race. However, as usual, he showed great trackcraft to work his way through other dogs, to finish a length down in 2nd position. A real good genuine run once again. Wait 'til he gets his rails postion!!!!!

BLENHEIM MAN

Blenheim Man is an unraced July 05 pup, and is Novice Open Class. We thought it better to enter him in a race of lower class, but with other dogs that have raced. On Saturday night "Little Man " goes from Trap 5 in the semi final of an A6 Stake at Thurles. He is very well in himself, and we are expecting a big run from him. " Little Man " ran very well in his first ever race, against more experienced dogs. He trapped well from Trap 5 and ran the bends and the back straight well, before losing by a length, to a downgraded A1 dog, in a winning time of 29.77. He has drawn Trap 3 in the final next Friday.

CREAKING BONES

"Tonsils" is in an A4 final Stake at Thurles on Friday 27th April. He is in Trap 2, and if he can repeat last weeks effort, he should win.

This dog is so brave and genuine. He trapped quickly, and approaching the first bend was on the rails with 3 other dogs wanting to get close in to the rail. He weighs 83 pounds, and was as determined as he could be to hang on to his position. There was no room for error as his large frame was squeezed into a very tight spot on the rails, and on he went. No thoughts of jibbing or dodging. He came out of the bend in the lead, and never looked back, winning by 3.5 lengths in 29.34, just 4 spots slower than FTON. He has won 6 races from 12 starts and is now A2. This dog would be good enough to go Open Racing in the UK and is for sale at :
£3000.

WESTMEAD HAWK PUPS

Heres a picture that I took yesterday of some of Westmead Hawks puppies at 12 weeks of age. They were bred by Micheal Quinn of Drombane, Co.Tipperary, of the " Stouke " prefix name. Micheal generously offered me a free bitch from the mating, even before they were born. I chose the Brindle Bitch.

Trust me, Im a Greyhound Man!!!!!

Since moving here last August, I have made many friends , and no enemies. However, I have been lucky enough to be well guarded against certain Greyhound people, with the result that the 2 Greyhounds that have been brought from me to race in England, have done very well.

Nametab Kiwi, March 05, bred by John Moyles and owned by myself since 10 months of age, was sold at Thurles sales, and went straight into A2 at Sunderland. He won at second time of asking, and has now won A1, all within 5 races.

Bantiss Pebbles, June 05, also brought from John Moyles, improved lengths with us, and won an A6 600yards semi final, and the final of the Stake. She was sold to a previous buyer that brought a dog from me 16 months ago, and he is very pleased with his climb from A7 to A2 at Nottingham. Thats why he had this bitch on my recomendation. She had her first mixed trial at Nottingham last Monday, and won by 10 lengths in a time of 31.07.!!!!!!
If you are looking for a genuine dog or bitch, at the right price, then just telephone me or drop me a line. As someone once said " My word is my Bond ", and I will know the dog inside out when it leaves me. Oh, and one other thing, I cant get you the right dog overnight, it may take 2 months or more. Stop Press: Pebbles win her sealing trial against an A1 dog, by 5 lengths in 30.89 at Nottingham

CREAKING BONES

Tonsils goes tonight in an A4 stake at Thurles. He has the dreaded Trap 5 again. He has been placed in traps 5 or 6 in his last few races, which has really destroyed his card, having won 4 times on 4 visits in his early races from traps 1- 2 or 3. Never mind, lets see what he does toninght in this A4 downgrade.
Well, the dogs will always continue to baffle me. Not only did he blast away from his unfavourable trap 5 last night, but he won his semi-final race in 29.21, the fastest time he has ever run, by some 3 lengths. This is 5 wins from 11 races now, and he will be a very hot favourite for the final of the A4 Stake next Friday. The other semi-final time being won in 29.75

NAMETAB DELTA

Nametab Delta, Oct 06 Droopys Corleone x Ashley Bonus. Purchased from Charles Pickering, Zigzag Kennels in England. Will be reared in Ireland. She is the boss of the 3 puppies in the paddock, and will already chase any bits of paper that blows across the paddock. Her kennel name is " Daphne ".

NAMETAB ZORRO

Nametab Zorro Oct 06 Droopys Corleone x Ashly Bonus , was purchased from Charles Pickering at Zigzag Kennels in England, to be reared by me in Ireland. He will be a big dog around 80 pounds in weight, and is also a long individual. His kennel name is " Rooney "

NAMETAB APACHE

Nametab Apache Oct 06 puppy Jamaican Hero x Droopys Corday. I purchased this puppy from Charle Pickering of Zigzag Kennels in England, to rear in Ireland. This was the last litter of Jamaican Hero who was tragically killed in a fire at Zigzag Kennels in Dec 06. I had owned 2 bitches bred by JH in previous years, and thought it would be nice to have his last son. His kennell name is " Jack ", and he is in the paddock with 2 other pups of the same age.

BANTISS PEBBLES

Pebbles is in the final of A6 600 yard Stake on Friday night. Shes in Race 4, and Trap 4. I have been looking at the form all week, and I am going to have a decent bet on her. This picture was taken at mid day on the day of the Final. I think you will agree she looks in fantastic condition, and full marks must go to her trainer, Liam McCormack. Well, she ran as good as she looked!!! Quick Away, Always Led, was the Stats, and they were not wrong. For the first time she trapped well, and was never going to be beat, still in the lead at the Pick-Up. Had a nice bet on her at 9/4 as well. She has improved with every run, going from A9, A7, A5 and now A4. Lots more to come from this young Genuine little bitch and she is for sale at a reasonable price.

BLENHEIM MAN

Myself and a friend have aqquired a nice 71 pound, July 05 unraced pup, called BLENHEIM MAN. He has had 3 trials and won all of them, improving his time on each outing. He has had little done with him, and on his trial times is already A5. His brother has had only 3 races, and is already A2 recording a 28.97 at Waterford recently. I had him checked over this morning, and he is 100%, never finding any form of old injuries, so watch this space. Initially, we will train him ourselves and hopefully win a race or two with him. Good luck " Little Man".

BANTISS PEBBLES

Pebbles was having her second race for us in the space of 4 weeks. We thought she might just stay, so she was entered in a 600 A6 stake. Drawn in Trap 3, we were into unknown territory. Pebbles, amazed us all !!!! She was slowly away, and was in a close up 4th place aproaching the first bend. She moved to the rail, made up 2 places, and the race was on. In 2nd place coming off the second bend, she powered away and passed the leading dog, and continued to run on strongly to win by 4 lengths in a time of 33.86, and she wasnt fading either. I was on the terraces with the breeder John Moyles, and was so excited that I gave her the old Oi Oi all the way from the 4th bend. The lads in the crowd were smiling, and you could hear me all over the Stadium, but I didnt care. I was truly on cloud 9. Well, isnt that what dog racing is all about??, and yes we did have a nice bit on at 9/4.
This has now moved her up from A9, to A7 and now A5 in her only 3 races., so she is improving all the time. She is favourably drawn in Trap 4 for Friday nights final, and I really fancy her to run a big race for us. She is entered in the Thurles sales on 28th April, and she will make someone a good 6 bend bitch.

CREAKING BONES

Creaking Bones is in the Consolation Final of the A3 stake at Thurles on Sat night, from his dreaded Trap 5 box. Fingers crossed. Although in trap 5 , he exited smartly and was in 2nd place from the first bend, and challenged hard along the back straigh. He moved very close to overtaking the leading dog between 3 and 4, but had his legs taken from him when producing his challenge. There was extensive crowding at this point, and the 2 dog was not involved, and left clear winning by 6 lengths. Tonsils finished 4th, and all the remaining dogs behind the winner, was 0.5, 0.5, 0.5 and 0.5 lengths behind.Such is dog racing, and Tonsils will be targeted at sprint race shortly.

NAMETAB KIWI

Had an email today from the owner of Bobby. He has won at Armadale ( hope they were on ) and he will now be running at Sunderland. I look forward to seeing him on the BAGS meeting, and following his progress.
Stop Press: Just noticed that Bobby is having his first race at Sunderland on Wednesday 21st March. He is in an A2 at 21.40 in Trap 6 Goodness knows what he is doing being seeded wide, as he was always a rails to middle when I owned him. !!!

CREAKING BONES

Creaking Bones gets his favoured Trap 3 back in the A3 semi final Stake at Thurles on Saturday Night. He loves Thurles, and is going for his 5th win from 6 races there. Its St.Patricks Night, so I expect the stadium will be full, and trust Tonsils will give a good account of himself.
He didnt break as well as he can last night, but managed to get into 3rd place, and into next weeks final. We will have to do something special with him this week, as he has his hated Trap 5 box in the final.

Thursday, March 08, 2007

RONANS ROCKET

Good luck to RONANS ROCKET in his first race at Limerick tonight. Owned and trained by 11 year old Ronan O'Donovan, who reared him from 6 months of age, schooled and trained him. This is Ronans first ever race as an owner/trainer, so we all wish him the very best of luck.

Sadly it wasnt to be a fairy tale ending. The dog broke very well, but moved to the rail at the first bend to take a hefty shunt fromt the 2 dog. that was just about leading him up. He kept on going, but he was never really stretching out down the back straight, and faded badly from the fourth bend to finish in 5th place. Dog needs the inside berth, and some more training to get him fitter, but well done to Ronan in his first attempt.

CREAKING BONES

Creaking Bones aka " Tonsils ", will be contesting the first semi final of the Friends of Thurles Stadium A3 Stake on Friday, from Trap 5. He has never raced from this trap before, but he does seem to hold a straight line to the first bend, where he then cuts in. 3 winners of the first heats are in this competitive semi, and I would think whoever wins this semi, would be a hot favourite to win the Final. Its in the lap of the Gods now, but he is very well in himself, so fingers crossed.
Tonsils suffered his first ever defeat at Thurles last night, but it was the trap draw that beat him. He went up to the first bend, and then cut in as I feared, to be badly bumpded and knocked sideways. He ran his heart out trying to get back into the race, but alas it was not to be. One good thing came out of this race, which was the fact that he didnt show any signs of cramping this time.

Lamping

With the howling wind and rain, we decided to go lamping last night. We took 3 dogs, 2 puppies and an older Hound, none of which had been out on live stuff before. Within 15 minutes all had hunted and we were back in the van, and off to the pub for a couple of pints of Guiness. Job well done, and we are confident of very good runs from these dogs next weekend.

CREAKING BONES

Creaking Bones aka " Tonsils " is in Trap 3, Heat 1 of the Friends of Thurles Stadium A3 Stake on Friday 2nd March. I cant put a penny on him, because of his cramping over 4 bends, but Im sure Liam has worked on him this week, and I am just hoping for a good run without cramping.
Although I was expecting a decent run, I really didnt expect him to win and in doing so, he recorded a personal best time of 29.44, which was the 2nd fastest time of the night. He still cramped a little coming off the 4th bend, but hopefully in his next run in the Semi Final, he will be spot on . He really loves Thurles, as this is his 4th win there, from 4 races.

BANTISS PEBBLES

As I was feeling a little " dogless" after selling Nametab Kiwi a few weeks back, I decided to approach John Moyles with a view to purchase Bantiss Pebbles. John bred Kiwi, so I had no hesitation in going back to him again. Pebbles will run in the same name, and her owner will be my wife, Eileen

CREAKING BONES

I had Tonsils checked over by Geoff Parnaby yesterday, and whilst he had a number of sore areas, nothing was torn or damaged. A thorough manipilation of Tonsils back and neck areas, with 5 days of ultra sound and massage with oils, should see him 100%. It is hoped to enter him for an A3 stake at Thurles this coming Friday. If he cramps again in this 525 stake, we will keep him to Sprint races for a while.

BOBBY

Bobby was sold on 3rd Feb at Thurles sales, and the new owner in Scotland has kept me in touch with his progress. He will be flapping at Armadale, and on Thursday 14th Feb, competed in his first race at that track. He won in a fast time and by 7 lengths. Well done Bobby, and keep up the good work.

CREAKING BONES

CREAKING BONES has drawn Trap 3 in the Quarter Finals of his Stake on Friday at Harolds Cross. I think he runs better from 2 and 3, but we have a big problem with Father Patrick in Trap 1. A very obvious wide runner, but in my opinion a fighter. Take a look at the video of his race on Monday night, and you will see what I mean.We were all disappointed at seeing him blot his card, and finish in 5th place. He was fast away this time, but the dreaded cramping is getting to him on these 4 bend races. He walked across the finish line., after having every chance. We will have to get him on a supplement for cramping, and hope that the warmer weather gets here sooner than later. In each of his three 4 bend races he has competed in, he has cramped every time!!!

CREAKING BONES

CREAKING BONES is running in an A3 -- 36 dog stake at Harolds Cross, on Monday 12th Feb. He has drawn Trap 1, and has good dogs in the race with him. We will now see how good this dog is having his 4th race, and going for a four timer. He is very well and we hope he does the business once again. Good luck " Tonsils". Alas it was not to be a Four timer, but at least he qualifyied for the semis. I didnt go to HX to watch him as I have the Flu, but I have spoken to the Trainer and seen the video clip of the race. He cramped between the 3rd and 4th bend, or would have finished a close 2nd.

GONE TO SCOTLAND

Nametab Kiwi won his trial from Trap 6 at Thurles on Saturday, in a winning time of 29.64, winning by 8 lengths. This run would have been even better had he had his Trap 1. He was sold for 2500 to Jim Valentine, the well known agent from Scotland. I would like to see him running on an NGRC track so I could keep a watch on his progress, but he will probably go Flapping.
I only sold this dog so he could get regular runs, as he is a keen as mustard on the Hare. Good luck Bobby, I hope to hear of your progress in the months to come. Bobby wins his first race at Armadale by 7 lengths in a fast time. Details will follow later.

STEPPING UP IN DISTANCE

I am convinced that "Tonsils" is a decent enough dog to step up to the standard 480 trip with some conviction, that I took him to Harolds Cross for look at this track.

In a 2 dog trial with a dog of the same grade that can stay strongly, they both exited the traps together, but my lad was a length in front at the first bend, and won by 2 lengths in a time of 29.58. The guy who took the money told me that the track was 30 slow, and we had the last trial of the day.

An A3 stake is advertised for 12th and 13th of Feb., so I am looking for a good run from my dog.

GOING FOR THE HAT TRICK

CREAKING BONES aka "Tonsils" is in Trap 3, in an S3 race Thurles on Saturday night. This is only his third race, having won his previous 2 starts and moved up from S6 to S3 after his 10.5 lengths win on 5th Jan. I believe this could be a serious dog on the sprint circuit, with a little more experience under his belt.
What a race this turned out to be!!! Running from Trap 3, for the first time he was slow out of the Trap, but went past the 2 dog on his inside approaching the first bend, and then cut inside the 1 dog running the bend at the same time. From then on, he just powered away, with me yelling " Come on Tonsils Oi OI " from the winning post. The locals went very quiet, but I was really calling my boy on, what a gutsy race he ran, winning by 4 lengths .
I got on with my usual bookie at 6/4, with a lumpy bet, and he finished at 4/6 on most other boards. Absolutley brilliant if I say so myself, improving his time to 19.67.This now makes him 3 wins from 3 races, and he has moved up another grade to S2.

NAMETAB KIWI FINAL OF A5 STAKE

Tonight at Thurles, Nametab Kiwi runs in the final of the A5 Stake. He is well drawn in trap 1 and we are expecting a good run from him. I dont think he will be much of a price, but he has already won 3 from 6 races, All on very slow going, so lets hope he gets his his 4th win. He is entered in the Thurles sales on 3rd February. At trials this morning it was cold, and the track was around -30, as usual.
Bobby had early pace to get him to the first bend just in front as he rails like a cat, he pushed on down the backstraight and opened up a 2 length lead. The 5 dog made ground and Bobby was bumped at the third bend, but he stuck to his work, and finished in 2nd place, just half a length down to the winner. It was a very windy and wet evening, with the track being -50. Bobbys next appearance will be at Thurles Sales on 3rd February, where he will make any potential purchaser a very good, genuine dog.http://www.igb.ie/Greyhounds.aspx?id=3FFE7D8E-4D23-4327-9430-E1BFD2F161D8

SOLD WITHIN 48 HOURS

I have decided to put AVONDALE PRIDE, who has been running at Coventry, up for sale. If you have a dog that runs strongly at Coventry, you have a useful dog that can run most tracks.
The reasons for selling her are the following:

1 My trainer, Tony Hackett, has been sacked from Coventry and therefore she has nowhere to regularly run.

2 I now live in Ireland

3 I cant see her run

In my opinion, she will repay the buyer time and time again, as she is absolutlely genuine. See her form athttp://www.thedogs.co.uk/trap6/res_dog_history.php?dogid=271351

I am only asking for a nominal sum of £700 NO OFFERS

Nametab Kiwi

Nametab Kiwi has been called in as first reserve in the semi final of an A5 stake.at Thurles tonight. He is drawn in Trap1, which isnt ideal as he runs middle, buts its much preferred to traps 5 or 6 which he has had in he last 2 runs. Backed at 5/2 Bobby ran a blinder. He wouldnt give in, even after moving off towards the middle he stuck to the persistant challenge of the 3 dog. Both dogs split in 1.80, but Bobby pulled away down the back straight and kept going. Trap 3 was cutting him down all the while, but he managed to hold on to win in 29.82 by 0.5 lengths. This was 2 spots slower than the fastest time of the night. Considering the track was too wet for trials on Thursday, it was generally thought the track was about 40 slow.
Bobby is a completely different dog when drawn rails or middle. He is drawn in Trap 1 for next weeks final, so lets hope he can maintain his winning ways, as he is in the Thurles sales on 3rd February.http://www.igb.ie/Greyhounds.aspx?id=3FFE7D8E-4D23-4327-9430-E1BFD2F161D8

JAMAICAN HERO PUPPIES

I have always been impressed with Jamaican Heros offspring, but as he was tragically killed in a fire at ZigZag Kennels last month, there will be very few offspring in the future, as no straws were taken from him.
I contacted Charles Pickering and purchased a dog and a bitch out of his last litter on the farm. These are Oct 06 pups, and they will be reared on in Ireland. I would have purchased all the litter, but Kath had a pick of a puppy from all the litters on the farm, and picked a dog from this litter. I am advised that she is a good judge of a dog, so we will keep our fingers crossed for the future.

Stop Press

Creaking Bones aka "Tonsils", just got the call to run in a 360 sprint tonight, as he was first reserve.. The Trainer thinks he is good enough to win a graded sprint so we shall see tonight. At least he HAS got his Trap. Just like waiting for a Bus, this dog game, you wait ages for a race for your dog, then you get 2 out on the same night. In only his second ever race, Tonsils blasted away from the Traps and won his sprint by 10.5 lengths, with a winning time of 19.75. This was a most convincing win, as there was no trouble behind him. Track record holder Rambling Jack, won his Open race sprint earlier in the evening, with a time of 19.69. Both the Trainer and Owners were suitably impressed, and will now be looking for Open Races for Tonsils on tight tracks , with short runs to the finish line. This run has now put him up 3 grades to A3/S3. How much more is there to come???http://www.igb.ie/Greyhounds.aspx?id=9801C93E-23BD-45D0-92EF-C9A9B7180074

NAMETAB KIWI

NAMETAB KIWI runs at Thurles tonight, his first race since December 1st.. He will have to work his hardest as he is in an A4, and from an unfavourable trap draw in 6. He is a rails to middle runner, and has never been in trap 6. This is his 5th race of his life, 1 run Oct, 2 runs November, 1 run December and tonight. Oh for the seeding system in the UK, and regular runs to keep the dog fit!!!!!Bobby continues to disappoint after a promising start to his career. He missed the break, moved to the middle and scraped the paint off the first bend rails. He was checked twice, and finished 5th. Trap 6 is definately not his box, and neither is A4, so this run should be discounted.

Advance information

I have entered NAMETAB KIWI in the sales at Thurles on 3rd February. The only reason he is for sale is that he is young, and I cant get a regular run for him. He has never been injured, and is a very keen dog on the track, smashing into the hare box at the pick-up. I know he would be close to 29.00, on a clear run and on normal going, with a rails to middle seeding.. I would expect him to make top grade at any track in the UK

I am hoping he will run at Thurles this coming week-end, and that will be his last run until the sale. If anyone is interested in making an offer before the sale, please contact me with a sensible offer.

His form can be seen by clicking on this link http://www.igb.ie/Greyhounds.aspx?id=3FFE7D8E-4D23-4327-9430-E1BFD2F161D8
